The Old Chiang Mai Cultural Centre is the venue for an exciting, three-day jazz festival next week. The 2019 edition of the so-called Chiang Mai Street Jazz Festival will kick off on Friday 1st November at 18:00 and run through until late in the evening on Sunday 3rd November.
The jazz extravaganza is being jointly sponsored by a quartet of the city’s jazz bars: the North Gate Jazz Co-Op, the Mellowship, Thapae East and Moment’s Notice. On the first evening of the festival, all four bars will feature live jazz music. Entry to the bars is free on the night.
Shows on the following two days will be staged at the Old Chiang Mai Cultural Centre with almost non-stop music from 14:00 onwards on each day. The likes of Aya Sekine’s Freedom Jazz, the Chiang Mai Street Jazz All-Stars, the Payap Big Band, Dr Pathorn and the Ketasewi Band will be playing.
Admission is not free on the two main days. Jazz fans planning to attend will make savings on on-the-door prices with early bird tickets on sale via the link on the Chiang Mai Street Jazz Festival website.
