This last weekend saw Chiang Mai’s JJ Market inaugurate the first of two new specialist themed markets. In addition to the standard weekend markets, JJ will now be staging a hobby market every Saturday while a so-called rustic one opened yesterday, Sunday 1 July.
Vendors with stalls at the hobby market will primarily be selling second-hand items while the theme at the rustic market is hand produced handicrafts and produce. Both markets begin at 07:00 in the morning and end a little after lunch. The farmer’s and organic food market at JJ’s on both weekend days will operate as normal.
JJ, or Jing Jai Market to give it its full name, is located on the north side of Chiang Mai and is a stone’s throw from Kham Thiang Flower and Horticultural Market. JJ’s is home to a diverse collection of independent shops and eateries ranging from artisan coffee and juice shops to doggie beauty salons.
