One of the Thai Airways passenger lounges at Chiang Mai International Airport has closed for an extensive refurbishment. The airline posted up a news bulletin on its website saying the Royal Silk Lounge closed last Friday for a revamp which is expected to be finished by the end of November.
The Royal Silk Lounge is located on the first, or upper, floor of the public domestic departures building and is close to the THAI restaurant. THAI’s news update noted that a temporary lounge had been set up in the restaurant. It stated eligible passengers and qualifying members of THAI’s and affiliated Star Alliance airline frequent flyer clubs could use this lounge.
The Royal Silk Lounge is one of two Thai Airways lounges at Chiang Mai International Airport. The other, the Royal Orchid Lounge, is in the airside international Departures hall and past the security and passport control checkpoints. The Coral Executive Lounge at Chiang Mai International Airport is another option for departing passengers and is a pay-per-use facility with full amenities and fast-tracking through immigration.
