Festive Christmas celebrations and Christmas dinners are limited to popular Thai tourist destinations ranging from Bangkok down to Phuket and up to Chiang Mai. Le Crystal is a premium Chiang Mai French restaurant and is serving a four-course dinner on Christmas Eve, and for lunch and dinner on Christmas Day. The Red Lion is a British themed pub in the Night Bazaar zone. Christmas dinner at the Red Lion with turkey and pudding is available on the 24 and 25 December. Across the other side of the Ping River, another Chiang Mai old-timer, The Duke’s Maeping will be staging its standard Christmas Day buffet with turkey and culinary delights from mashed potatoes to shrimp cocktail and white chocolate cake garnished with cream and strawberries.
The Marco Polo Restaurant at the Duangtawan Hotel is another popular Chiang Mai place to be. Utilising the theme Wonder Winter Christmas Celebration, the restaurant will be offering dinner on Christmas Eve and brunch on Christmas Day. The Why Not? Italian Restaurant is holding a special all-you-can buffet lunch on the 25 December.
These restaurants and other Chiang Mai venues with Christmas dinner on their menus say early bookings are recommended. They say demand is invariably high and it is a case of first come, first served.
